Alive and Aligned Retreat

Retreat Dates: January 30th-February 6th, 2027

Hosted By: Shelagh Curran and Kalli Portillo

There is a version of you that feels fully alive. Energized, inspired, deeply in tune with her body and her intuition. This retreat is the invitation back to her.

Each day is intentionally woven around one of the seven chakras, beginning with the root and rising to the crown, so that by the end of the week your energy has been cleared, aligned, and awakened from the ground up. The days are full but unhurried, with morning yoga in the jungle shala, nourishing meals made with local ingredients, wellness and somatic nutrition workshops, breathwork, and evenings anchored by restorative yoga, sound healing, or cacao ceremony. You will surf, swim in waterfalls, explore the jungle, and sit in the kind of stillness that only nature can offer.

This is more than a yoga retreat or a wellness vacation. It is a space to get quiet enough to hear your body and spirit again. To feel what it means to be nourished at every level, physically, emotionally, energetically. Women arrive as strangers and leave as sisters, carrying with them a renewed sense of aliveness and a body that finally feels like home. Vamos a Costa Rica!

SHELAGH CURRAN

Shelagh is a registered dietitian, somatic nutritionist, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and reiki master who guides women in reconnecting with their bodies and cultivating deep, sustainable wellbeing. Her work blends evidence-based nutrition with yoga, nervous system regulation, somatic practices, and energetics to support women in balancing hormones, healing their relationship with food, and feeling grounded and at home in their bodies.

Shelagh holds a degree in Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and completed her dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She later completed her yoga teacher training in Bali, where her passion for weaving together movement, mindfulness, and healing practices began to take shape.

Her approach to wellness is deeply personal. After years of navigating PCOS, hormone imbalances, and disordered eating, Shelagh discovered that true healing required more than nutrition advice alone. By integrating nutrition science with body-based practices, she developed a holistic approach that honors the connection between mind, body, and spirit.

Over the past decade, Shelagh has worked in the wellness space helping women build nourishing relationships with food, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with their intuition and inner wisdom. Retreats allow her to bring this work to life in a powerful way, creating spaces where women can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience deep transformation within a supportive community.

A lifelong traveler and ocean lover, Shelagh has spent the past several years exploring the world as a digital nomad. She feels especially at home near water and is happiest swimming in the ocean, drinking matcha, writing, and sharing meaningful experiences with women from around the world

KALLI PORTILLO, LMHC, CCTP

Kalli is a licensed mental health counselor, EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional specializing in trauma therapy for women. She is the founder of WellKind Mental Health, where she provides trauma-informed therapy designed to help clients heal at the root of their symptoms rather than simply managing them.

Kalli is passionate about working with women who have experienced trauma. She supports survivors of both single-incident traumas—such as sexual assault, car accidents, natural disasters, and surviving gun violence—as well as complex and repeated trauma, including childhood neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Her work focuses on helping women reconnect with themselves, process painful memories, and develop healthier core beliefs about their worth and identity.

Using evidence-based approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), relational therapy, and inner-child work, Kalli provides a gentle, compassionate environment where clients can process trauma safely and at their own pace. She believes that healing occurs through a collaborative process and that every client is the expert of their own life. Her role is to help clients uncover their strengths, build resilience, and move toward a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.

Kalli earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University and works with adult clients both in person and online from her practice in downtown Sarasota, Florida. She specializes in trauma, anxiety, grief, and women’s issues, and is committed to providing an inclusive, affirming space for individuals of all backgrounds and identities.
