Guidelines + Safety
Helpful tips to keep you safe, respectful, and in rhythm with the jungle
General Guidelines

No alcohol, drugs, or mind-altering substances (Flō is a dry retreat center)

No smoking on property (step offsite + dispose responsibly)

Wi-Fi is for work only - please avoid streaming
-
Quiet Hours: 9:00 PM - 6:00 AM (pool closes at 10:00 PM)

Please don't access chef's kitchen, pantry, or big fridges
-
Don't flush anything down the toilet - paper and hygiene products go in the trash (emptied 2x daily)

Use only purified taps for drinking water

Keep electronics stowed, but no need to lock in rooms

Leave Flō’s property clean - tidy up after yourself, sort waste, and pick up litter when you see it

No glass near the pool, rocks, or studio

Please use bath towels ONLY for showering, not for the pool, beach, or river. Lost or ruined towels will incur a $20 per towel fee
Safety Tips

This is the jungle, be cautious!

Avoid rivers during rain and after dark

Never cross the second river if it is too high - wait or ask for help

Don't explore slippery rocks or cliffs

Stick to Flō’s side of the riverbank - the other side is private property
-
Jungle = wildlife; be cautious and respectful
-
No solo hikes - use the buddy system

Wear shoes at dusk (snake time!)

AC is for night use only (windows closed)

There is 24/7 staff and security support
Energy + Water Conservation

AC is for night use only - keep windows closed, turn off in the morning, remote on rack

Close curtains during the day to keep rooms cool

Lights off when not in room; fan can stay on low
-
Keep showers short (~5 mins max) - river and pool are great for cooling off too!

Don't leave personal items in shared showers unless agreed with roommates
Studio + Gym Usage

Please don't touch the music system/mics. You can use the gym stereo if you need to!

Please no glass or shoes in the yoga studio

You MUST wear shoes in the gym

Please do not leave incense or candles burning unattended
-
If you use the studio or gym at night, keep the door shut and turn off lights/shut the door when you leave to avoid bugs
Community + Cultural Etiquette

Costa Rica is a conservative culture - shirts & shoes in public, always
-
You're representing Flō and Amor en Acción in the community
-
No haggling at shops or grocery stores - beach vendors only, and always with respect
-
When in doubt: be kind, be aware, and leave it better than you found it
